BREAKING NEWS: Seminole City Council Discusses Future of Lloyd Simmons Building

During the Seminole City Council meeting on September 10th, 2024, at [2:10:20], Danny Morgan, representing the Seminole State College Educational Foundation, proposed repurposing the Lloyd Simmons Building, located at Oiler Park, near the city golf course. The building has remained vacant since the college moved out, and the council is now exploring ways to lease it in order to generate revenue for both the city and the foundation.
At [2:14:45], the council discussed leasing options, including a long-term lease (up to 99 years), which could provide significant revenue while allowing for flexible usage. Council members also emphasized the need for a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) process to ensure transparency and fair use of the city-owned property. Further discussions will take place at future council meetings.
